You have got to be kidding me!

I have tried over and over and over to put pictures on my blog of my favorite place in Istanbul. No matter how many times I tried to add them I kept getting a server error. I was told to try again in 30 seconds. Well, I am not going to admit to how many times I tried. Let me just say I don't have enough fingers and toes to count all the tries. So I decided to just throw another picture in to see if it would post. Of course. Of course it posted just fine. So here is that picture.

the shoeshine boys

And now for the story behind this picture. We saw quite a few of these guys roaming the streets looking for shoes to shine. After they passed us this is how the conversation between Brian and I went.

Natalie: Hey, stop for a sec...I want to take a picture of the backside of the shoeshine boys.
Brian: I wish you could hear yourself sometimes.
Natalie: Why? What did I say wrong?
Brian: You want to take a picture of their backsides?
Natalie: No....that's not what I meant! You know that's not what I meant.
Brian: Well, it's what you said.

And later after showing the picture and telling that story to a friend he said, "Well, would you look at their backsides! Look at those jeans!"

Which I can promise you I never noticed until they were pointed out to me.

And no the shoeshine boys aren't holding hands. It just looks that way. There is no such thing as personal space here. If you are walking together you walk close...no matter how much room there is on the sidewalk around you! That's just the way it is.

So now you know. And by golly I am going to keep trying to get those other pictures on here. I am now even more determined. You can't just have shoeshine boy pictures. I won't stand for it.

Well, I found it interesting they were walking together, to shine shoes. I would have expected that going solo would result in more money for each individual.

As for Brian, I need to now increase his allowance by $2.50, because I love the way he catches you off guard. Go Brian! Go Brian!

I'm sorry but I can't believe Brian has the nerve to tell you he can't believe the things you say when he's the one who tries to explain fornication with HAND GESTURES!!! Nothing can top that!

Are we looking at shoeshine boy ass through the rips in the denim? Or do you just like butt shots?

And I too did not realize that shoeshining was a tandem sport. What's their MO; one spits while the other polishes? Yes, I'm talking about shoe shining.

Don't delete this.

First, I laughed so hard at heyjoe's comment, I spit my gum out.

Seriously though, they *do* look like they're holding hands. And why *are* they doing the shoeshine thing together? We're sheltered out here in Oklahoma :) .

witty - i know you are loving brian. and i have no idea why they go shining together! that is a good question.

kristy - thank you for pointing this out! thank you.

heyjoe - i think it is some special cloth on his pants. i'm not really sure. i didn't look that closely. believe me. i wasn't looking! and well...i'm not sure what else to say to this! so i think i will just stop here.

nikki - i laughed so hard at your spitting your gum out. seriously i am still giggling. i did noticed that the shoeshine boys were wearing the same shirt and that was strange to me. i'm pretty sure there isn't a shoeshine uniform so i'm not quite sure what is up with that. maybe there is a shoeshine boys gang or something. maybe they were scoping out the territory.

Maybe they're brothers whose Mom thought they'd look good in the shirts:)

Been having photo probs w/blogger lately as well. I finally got them up by doing them one by one. Guess multiple pics gives it indigestion.
