Today

Today I spent the day sorting. Well after the nap I took at 9:30 this morning. (Remember the whole not sleeping well thing? Yeah...so I went back to bed and slept until 11:30. It helped.) We have decided that we are going to cargo some stuff back to the states. The majority of the stuff we have here will be put in storage, but there are a few things that I have decided didn't need to stay. Today we spent time separating that stuff out. You should see our salon. On the other hand...no you shouldn't. Please don't come over! Our dining room table is covered. So is the floor between it and the wall. There is a very large duffle bag on one of the couches. The other one is covered with stuffed animals and dolls that the kids have to have in America. If you come over you will have to sit on the floor which desperately needs to be vacuumed. So yeah...don't.

It has actually been good to clean out. I went through the buffet we have in our entryway today. There was so much trash and junk in it! I threw away old dried up playdough, many colored pencils, markers that didn't work, old notebooks, and games that were missing pieces. There were several things that I didn't even recognize in the drawers. If I didn't know what it was and Brian couldn't tell me what it was I threw it away. This could have been done months ago, but I needed the excuse of moving to do it I guess.

There are more cabinets and drawers to go through over the next few days. Then we will have the packing company out to get the things we want to take with us out of here. After that...it will be smooth sailing. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Actually it will be much easier to decide things after that is done, but I have a feeling the waters will be quite choppy. I'll be sure to wear my life vest just in case.

How exciting to be that much closer to coming home! Do you have a house here waiting for you?

Okay, I want the answer to that question too, please. Don't think you're the only one with some fall cleaning to do. I really can't think of a Bible verse about cleaning. Okay, I can, but there are so many to choose from. Something about putting on clean garments. ;)

I think I missed when the move is? I'm glad you are able to channel soem of that energy into getting ready.

I'm sorry you have been in a low place recently - I'm a big believer in crying when you need to and just letting yourself feel whatever it is you are feeling.

Ha! My house is in the same state of chaos as yours is! But that's the price you pay for moving. We've been here a month and things were getting to look pretty good and then we decided to tile some areas that were carpeted. So now that's all torn out and they started laying tile today...THE WRONG TILE! Oh, well, once I convinced them it wasn't the right thing we got that straightened out. So all our furniture is shoved into the rooms not being tiled. The only room that is 'normal' is the kitchen. That's fine by me since that's the center of the home and ever since I became a flybaby (flylady.net) I've found that if the kitchen is under control, all is well. It did take me most of this whole month to get the kitchen right. I must have reorganized it at least 10 times. And that throwing away of used up and useless things? That's impossible to keep up with. We are always editing, throwing away, donating. If you'd done it months ago, you still would have had more to do now so no big deal. Sounds like you're in the groove now and I'm sure you'll do fine.

brittany - yep. there's a house. i can't wait to have a house and a backyard again. and a street where the kids can ride bikes. we've lived in an apartment for the past 6 years and had none of those things. it's been great...lots of great experiences, but i am ready for a change!

supersmartkooger - the house question? yep. we have one. i am ready to clean out lots of stuff. do you want a present when we come home? any requests?

friyet - no thanks! although i do think it would be way easier to clean out someone else's stuff. i think it would go a lot quicker!

citizen - nov. 24. 39 days. i am ready. i know...i decided that the comment moderation served it's purpose.

mamadallama - we aren't bringing a lot of stuff back with us so it should be fairly easy to unpack. the house we are moving into has already had our stuff moved into it, and my mom has mostly organized it. i can change stuff around when i get there, but it won't be a high priority!

CJ - i can imagine. we've been back and forth between turkey and the states several times. this is by far the hardest packing job we've had!

Ugh. Moving is so traumatic, yet cleansing at the same time. I hate it, but am glad to make time to get rid of stuff.

I'm glad to see that your spirits seem brighter. I was worried about you!
