A little weekend fun

It's the weekend, and everyone knows that weekends are for fun. In order to inject a little fun into our (this means me and you) weekend we're going to play a game. (Aw...come on. You know you want to play!) Here's how it works. I'm going to ask a question. First person to comment answers my question and leaves one of their own. Next commenter answers that question and leaves one. And so on and so on. If for some reason two people are commenting at the same time and answer the same question the next commenter gets to answer two questions before moving on. Since it's the weekend it might be a little slow going at first. I'll be heading out of town this afternoon for a couple of days so hopefully this will keep us entertained while I'm gone. I'll have my computer, but I don't know that I'll have time to write a blog post.

Now for the question...

What's the best gift you've ever gotten?

Oh, and thanks to Ronnica for the idea!

Wow I'm first - yay! The nicest gift I ever got was a pair of pearl earrings from Tiffany's. The gift I've had the most fun with has to be my iPhone. But the best gift that has stayed with me the longest is probably my Paddington Bear that I got when I was 10. He's traveled with me to college, through many apartments, in and out of relationships. He's minus a little stuffing but he's still with me.

My question is what's the best book you've ever read?

This is SO much fun. I may just have to steal it at some point for my own blog.

As for my question: The best book I have ever read would have to be A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Just because it's a classic and also changed the way I think about a lot of things.

My question: What life experience has taught you the most?

This is so so fun - love it!! Hmm... now I have to think of a good answer...

I would say that the life experience that has taught me the most is my mom's death. Sure, it has been really really really hard, but it has definitely forced me to stand on my own two feet. I'd like to think I was independent before (and I was), but I am even more independent now.

My question: What's your most longstanding favorite song?

Oh, wow, that's hard! Probably my most longstanding favorite (of many) song, would be More by Matthew West. I've loved that song for a long time. So uplifting!

Great...now I get to think of a question...how 'bout...what is a favorite hobby of yours? :)

Ah...I get the hobby question. I won't say writing (as you'll all go 'duh'). I play very bad, very basic guitar. My favorite hobby is putting on old blues songs and playing along.

My question...if you could go back and meet a version of yourself from 10-15 years ago..what advice do you give yourself?

If I can go back 20 years, it would be "Don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys"

Question: If you could live anywhere you chose, where would that be?

I would live in Florida! Siesta Key to be exact!

My question is:

What is your all-time favorite movie?

Sharon said...

My favorite movie is 'While you were sleeping'. I love it for so many reasons. 1)I was in Chicago the same time they were filming it. 2) It's hilarious. 3)Lucy and Jack fall in love based on their friendship, not their physical attraction.

Okay, so if you were a philanthropist, what 'cause' would you be most passionate about and why?

When I was a kid, I really wanted the Beetlejuice graveyard playset complete with popping out of the grave Beetlejuice action figure and my grandmother said she would buy it for me. She did and when I got it, I was suddenly stricken with this strange terror just from looking at this gnarly graveyard.

I was thrown off with that Beetlejuice thing, but I guess Koster was responding to the original question.

So if I had a cause to be a philanthropist about, I'd probably split between cancer research and nature preservation efforts. My brother battled cancer for a couple years, and he's just too young to have to go through that. Everyone's too young, I guess. We should be able to cure cancer by now. Also, living in Utah makes me really appreciate the unique beauty of the wilderness, and I think that's worth saving for future generations to appreciate.

Question for any remaining player: If you were able to find out exactly when and how you would die, would you want to know? And if you could choose, how and when would it be?

Your welcome, Natalie, though I know that I saw the idea some time ago somewhere. I guess pretty much everything in the blogosphere is borrowed, though.

Okay, my answer:
No, I don't think I would want to know. I think I would develop an unhealthy fear of whatever it was, even if I knew it wasn't my time. If I could choose? I would die painless in my sleep of some sort of natural cause in my 50s (I don't really want to grow old). Specifically, why not 3/23/2037.

I think the best gift was seeing my husband (then boyfriend) during leave from military deployment - Just seeing his face when I opened the door of the hotel room in Africa after so many months apart was the best gift!!

I don't have an answer, because somehow this got messed up!

My question to the next person, is why do people have such a hard time following instructions?

Anonymous said...

People don't follow instructions because they don't listen or read. My son was just telling me that one of his teachers gave a pop quiz. If you read the instructions, it said "This is not a test, just checking to see if you read this, please hand it back"
So him and another kid did.

My question.....Have you ever gotten money and not told your significant other? I did,,LOL

Natalie, I can't believe I found you again. I lost track of your blog address and then I came across you prayer card and saw it.
I had lunch with Charlotte S. and LaSchel, they told me you were back in Texas. We're at a different church now.. since we moved to The W. I have a blog too. I saw you had Ronnica on here. I go to Ronnica's blog all the time. Small world...Can't believe I haven't found you before now.

Hmmm, no, I can't say that I did get any money and not tell my S.O.

My question is...

If money is not an issue - what vacation would you take / where would you visit?
