desserts to die for

Last night we went out to eat with some friends. We left all 8 kids at home. Lucky them. Here are pictures of our desserts. I couldn't resist. They were yummy!

And this is what we left for the kids to have for dessert. Pronounced neg - row.

Not as good as an oreo, but it works.

Just catching up on all the blogs I check and you do this to me! I think I just gained 3 pounds by looking. Sigh. Fat Free Jelly with whipped cream ain't cutting it all of a sudden.

I stared at that photo of your husband like I was at the scene of a car accident. Horrifying, yet I couldn't look away! Trust a man to want a picture like that. Never thought I'd see a dessert capable of poking someone's eyes out... Looks delish though!

Wait. Not your husband, is it? Is that one of said friends? sorry!!

They look amazing, except for that hairy stuff all over them. What is that stuff?

LiteralDan said...

Yeah, what is that stuff on top of a couple of them? Some kind of rock-candy-like sticks? Delicious overall, even the Negros. Sometimes, that's all you want.

I am sick just looking at it.

Nothing like a killer dessert! The molten chocolate one would have been MINE!!

I'm guessing that the delicate fiber stuff is spun sugar?

omg...those desserts look sinful!

Green with envy!

Wow, and here I was in Turkey and I didn't get my invitation....

missnightowl - i know. there were about 7 more things on the menu we didn't get to try. next time!

kiki - i'm sorry. i know how hard you've been working and then i had to go and ruin it for you. they weren't that good anyway...licking my lips as i type that...

walking with scissors - nope...not my husband, but you are right quite a disturbing picture. his wife even said before i snapped the picture that it would end up on my blog. he obviously didn't mind! and those long stick things tasted kinda like burnt dry spaghetti. they looked interesting though.

memarie lane - that hairy stuff was sugar. sugar needles. they tasted fine, but they weren't easy to eat. kinda dangerous.

literaldan - after tasting the sugar needles i tried to scrape them off my dessert. i couldn't get them all off though. they were a little painful to eat. and negros are ok. but i'm not a fan of oreos so they aren't my favorite for sure.

#2 - it was yummy. very yummy!

maura - that molten one was oooey gooey goodness! and that delicate fiber stuff wasn't quite delicate enough. i think i would suggest they do something different with it. we weren't big fans of getting stabbed in the mouth. having never had spun sugar (well other than cotton candy which i'm sure doesn't count) i'm not sure it was done exactly right.

jozet - they were. i would send you one, but i don't think they would make the trip from turkey in one piece. ewww.

pinki - they tasted delicious. i can't wait to try the others. they weren't cheap though that's for sure.

brittany - girl, if you were in turkey and didn't tell me we would be having some serious why-didn't-you-tell-me-you-were-in-turkey conversations. come visit and i'll take you out!

Ah, the infamous 'lava cake' spewing out chocolate lava. Yes!!

Those cookies??? I'm laughing. But does that make me not nice? Because I'll stop. I'm conflicted.

citizen of the world - truffles...i love truffles!

gina - i'm telling you it was yummy!

over-thinker - i know. they also have cookies here called filipinos. i do wonder where they come up with their ideas sometimes.

haha! That reminds me of a picture that Chris & Ronnica and I took where we're all holding random Turkish snacks with funny names. Such as: negro, crax, and hi-life I think it was

All the kids needed to go with them was a can of the famous (in Japan) 'sports drink' "Pocari Sweat".

I seem to snack for hours after a visit to your blog:)

erinleigh - i know. they have some crazy snack names here. some of them don't sound appetizing at all!

mike s - that sounds gross! i should look into that for a taste test! and i make myself hungry as well. those desserts were just too pretty to pass up!

Andrea said...

I forget about Pocori Sweat! I tried that many, many years ago. I forgot-maybe it wasn't so bad?!?

Back to the desserts.... yum!

andrea - something about the word sweat in the name of a drink just doesn't appeal to me at all! but the desserts...now those definitely do!
