Guess what? It's Ramadan time again. It took me by surprise this year I must say. That Ramadan drummer was very loud this morning! I'm sure the open windows didn't help! And instead of posting about Ramadan I am just going to direct you to last year's Ramadan posts. The holiday is celebrated the same way...just a few days earlier! This year it started on September 1.

Very interesting! There weren't any videos on these links, though. Don't know if it's just me or not. Thanks for expanding my horizons, Natalie!
A close friend from High School is from Bangladesh. I remember her dreading the fast she had to take part in. I totally supported her and didn't do anything mean like eat Cool Ranch Doritos and blow my ranchy breath in her direction..no sirree...
Boy, if that's not a central argument for the separation of church and state, I don't know what is.
Wouldn't a phone tree work as well or better than a drummer in the street?
Ha! This might be one of the occasions I love to live in England. I had no idea that it was Ramadan until a lady I was interpreting for told the doctor that she can't take medicine because she was fasting. No drummers for me :)
Um, yes, hello? Are you blog-fasting for Ramadan? Because I'm pretty sure that's not required.
Miss you!
mamadallama - thanks for pointing the video thing out. some people can see them and others can't. not sure what is up with that!
over-thinker - i feel sorry for the kids at school who are doing it. most of them just leave the lunch room during the lunch hour. it must be hard seeing everyone else eat!
literaldan - i know. i think the drummer is just tradition now. surely most people have alarm clocks. i know most of them have cell phones so they at least have that alarm. the drummer...well i don't know what to say about him.
derya - i know. totally snuck up on me this year. kinda sad this time.
over-thinker - no...i know. i have been a horribly lazy blogger lately. not sure what my problem is. i am hoping that after i get back from my little soiree in france i will be better. soiree...like that? threw some french in there. never mind that it means evening party and i'm staying a week. just don't think about the fact that i really don't know any french.
