My weekend went to the dogs

Well...not really. I am having a good weekend. I just realized when I was loading the pics from my camera that so far I've spent the weekend with the dogs.

Friday - We went to a friend's house for dinner. These street dogs were hanging out in the vacant lot across the street from their apartment. We have quite a few of these guys by our house as well. We have been chased and barked at by these poor animals. They really should be gathered up and euthanized, but nobody asked my opinion on the subject. They are gathered up every now and then and taken in to be neutered and tagged. Then they truck them back out and drop them off where they found them. Crazy I know.

Saturday - We went to a birthday party for a kid in Jacob's class. His family has base privileges so we got some yummy American goodies. Yes this is my plate of food. No, I couldn't eat it all. I ate the hot dog with relish, ketchup, and mustard first then could barely take a bite of the chili cheese dog. And that dog had cheese in it. It was quite disappointing! Oh well.

This cute little girl was there celebrating the birthday with us. My kids had to all hold her and talk about how much they wanted a dog. They even had a little puppy pack-n-play for her to sleep in. She is only 6 months old so she sacked out after all the excitement!

I know I haven't been posting as much. The Over-Thinker even said she misses me. Awww...how sweet. I promise I will try to step it up some. It may be another couple of weeks before I get regular again though. Brian and I will be heading to France to visit friends on Wednesday, and I'm pretty sure there won't be much time for blogging. After that I am going to be running around crazy trying to pack up this place to go back to the states. I'm sure I will look forward to the distraction of blogging!

Wow, that's quite a pack of dogs! Around here, they pick up dogs even if they have owner's tags, and it's a fortune to bail them out!

How does everyone in your family feel about moving back? I know after I spent several years living in Germany, I was very torn about going back to the US. I was excited, but had come to love my European home!

Thanks for the linky-love! I'm glad your "fast" is over. And may I be I'm guessing if it takes you a couple weeks to get regular, that we should be prepared for more poop-posts :)

Regardless of the topic, I always look forward to your writing.

Have a great time in France! Bring me back something French!!

We used to have a pack of stray dogs that would show up in our neighborhood about 2 or 3 times a week. Then my neighbor moved in with 3 cats. I have only seen 2 single stray dogs in the past 2 years. The dogs are still out there somewhere because the town council is trying to figure out what to do with them, but at least I don't have to deal with them anymore!

Wow! That is a lot of stray dogs! It's crazy they are allowed to roam around like that, but then again, Turkey must not have the same problem of overcrowded shelters like we have here int he states.

So when do you come back to the states? And where are you coming back to? And MAN that's a lot of stray dogs. Funny (or maybe it's just interesting) that you talk about a bunch of stray dogs and a party where your kids talk about how they want a puppy? I don't suppose they would settle for one of those mangy mutts from the street?

That dog picture is wild! (Literally) I've never seen so many loose stray dogs! Weird.

That birthday meal looks like it should come with a couple of Alka-Seltzer!

andrea - i know. those dogs are scary!

we are all pretty much of two minds about moving back. excited and scared at the same time. i have lived in turkey in this house for longer than i have ever lived anywhere in my life. 3 of the kids have lived here for over half of their lives. crazy.

over-thinker - i am trying to get back to blogging. it is hard though. so much going on...mostly in my head unfortunately. i am working on it! Oui oui...something french!

sheasy - i know. she was a cute dog for sure!

sara - i love that pic of ag. she can look so sweet sometimes!

penny - i wish they would pick them up here. take them away and not drop them back off. they are dangerous at times.

brittany - there is a shelter not far from where we live, but i don't know what they do there. i just hear lots of barking dogs every time i walk by.

nanny goats - we come back to the states in november. i will be in texas, but i will visit calif some for sure. i have never been to sacramento...i must visit sometime!

oh...and i wouldn't let them get one of those dogs. they are scary! we've been chased by them before. not fun!

caffeine court - they are scary dogs for sure! and the birthday meal was a little much i must admit. i couldn't even come close to finishing it!

literaldan - me too! at least i have good friends who are willing to invite me sometimes!
