Hi.

I know I have been quite absent from the internet lately. I've been around. I have just not been in the mood to write. A couple of people said that it sounds like I have the summer doldrums. Sounds like a great explanation to me.

A few days ago I went with a friend to see the movie Mamma Mia. I loved it! Sure it was a little cheesy, but it made me laugh. I have loved ABBA for a long time so I'm not surprised I loved it. It was so funny to me to see the Greek portion of the cast as background singers. At one point during the song Dancing Queen everyone is running through what looked to be an orchard. There is an older lady carrying a bundle of sticks on her back. When she threw those sticks down and started singing I almost fell out of my chair. She looked Turkish. I know people who look like her. I can't imagine them singing ABBA's Dancing Queen...um ever. Ahhh...good times. And the end. If you haven't seen the movie please go see it. And don't get up until the credits are rolling and there aren't any more pictures on the screen. The end is great.

You know I've always loved Meryl Streep. I haven't seen everything she's done, but everything I've seen her in is amazing. This was no different. A completely different character for her. I loved the singing, the awkward dancing, the way that she just looks natural. There is a scene with her at the end where you see a close-up of her face. The laugh lines around her eyes and just the way she smiled moved me.

And Julie Walters is my new favorite person. I loved everything about her character in this movie. The dancing on the table solidified it for me.

Ok...so I guess that's what you get today. A movie review. I know many people didn't really like this movie, but for me it was a great escape from life. And I love when a movie does that for me!

I am glad to see you back! Can't wait until you are posting more again, but the review was great, I am dying to see it, and hubby won't go, so it maybe a solo trip:)

I love Meryl Streep too. I think a lot of people are taking breaks right now, or re-evaluating, things of that nature.

I've been felling all blah and not wanting to post blogs lately too. I've started writing lots, but there they sit as drafts. Tonight is the first time in days I've even looked at blog comments.

I really want to see Mamma Mia. I even have a gift certificate to go to the theatre where it's playing. I can't find anyone to go with me. Maybe I'll go alone.

I'd love to see Mamma Mia! I like musicals but there aren't many new ones. I didn't used to like Meryl Streep, but I think she's fresher than ever. I've been a fan of Julie Walters since Calendar Girls.

SF - i didn't even know what Sophie's real name was. she did a great job in this movie! i haven't seen mean girls, and i'm guessing my daughters haven't either. they didn't mention her being familiar. i guess i should check that one out!

I loved this movie too. I don't know how it was in turkey... but when I went to see it in Dallas there were people dancing and singing in the theatre. It was a little awkward, but humorous nonetheless.

erin - well there has been no dancing in the aisles here! i saw it for a 4th time last night, and there was singing...the first i've heard that!
