Movie Meme

First of all let me say that I don't even know what the word "meme" means. I looked it up and got this definition.

meme –noun
a cultural item that is transmitted by repetition in a manner analogous to the biological transmission of genes.

So because I saw this idea on a friend's website (thanks for the idea, Jay) and thought it might be fun I am transmitting this cultural item to you. Now on with it...

The rules are:
Go to IMDB.com and look up 10 of your favorite movies.
Post five (5) official IMDB "Plot Keywords" for these 10 picks.
Have your friends guess the movie titles.
Then tag three people.

Here are my picks.

1. outsider, tutor, sickness, knight, based on novel
2. actor playing himself, drunk scene, secret, old woman, airplane
3. brother, humiliation, popularity, Chicago, teacher
4. no opening credits, insurance agent, adoption, product placement, deceit
5. friendship, paparazzi, roommate, bathtub scene, title spoken by character
6. class differences, famous score, clock, suicide, swimming
7. women, nursing home, wedding, friendship, barefoot
8. train, roulette, remake, farce, sailor
9. FBI, Texas, punching bag, russian mafia, New Jersey
10. bad girl, diary, lies, prison, hanging

So there you have it. I'm not going to officially tag anyone, but Mentanna since you are such a movie buff I bet you would pick some good ones!

By the way...I said that I didn't even know what the word "meme" meant. Well that was only partially true. I didn't know what it meant in English. In Turkish it means breast or udder so you can imagine what went through my mind when I first saw what this game was called!

No, no, no. #1 is A Walk to Remember. I think you got the rest right. I don't really like this game.

Way to go Tamara! See I knew they would be easy. I tried them on Brian last night, and he thought they were too hard. He said I should have picked different words. I told him that girls would probably get them. Since Tamara got them all right I deleted her comment. If anyone else wants to give it a try go ahead. I will add her comment back in a couple of days after others have had a chance. Also Tamara picked some movies as well. Here are her picks.

1. Father Son Relationship, Sacrifice, Italy, Directed By Star, Holocaust
2. Famous Line, Albino, Kissing, Battle of Wits, Based on Novel
3. Remake, Marriage, Based on Novel, Blockbuster, Title Spoken By Character
4. Escape, Nobility, Party, Catholic Church, Frog
5. No Opening Credits, Betrayal, Controversial, Hanging, Sacrifice
6. Baptism, Travel Agency, Chicago Illinois, Independent Film, Windex
7. Blind, Pennsylvania, Myth, Woods, Director Cameo
8. Santa Claus, Sleigh, Railway Station, Hide and Seek, 1940s

Oh...and the two I know without thinking are...

1. Life is Beautiful
2. Princess Bride

I think I know some of the others, but I need to think about them. There are a few words that confuse me!

I have to confess that I had to look up some of the keywords in imdb.com to figure a few of yours out.

And I had (my) Brian try to solve mine last night, and they were too hard. I tried not to pick the most obvious words, but ended up choosing ones that were too obscure! Oh well!

Okay, I was wrong about #1 I guess. But... every one of the words except for knight are in the description for A Walk to Remember. Since you had listed it on an earlier thread as one of your favorites, I figured that had to be it. Anyway, I still don't like this game!!

Re: Brian's guesses over at my blog:

"The Presidio"? Are you kidding me?

Do you actually think I would list a movie with Mark Harmon in the lead role as one of my favorites? (Sorry, even having Sean Connery in that flick can't cover for Mark Harmon.)

It's bad enough that one of my favorites - "Michael Collins" - has Julia Roberts in it. But I'll at least give her credit for being a step above Mark Harmon.

Okay...I've thought more about Tamara's picks and have these guesses as well.

6. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
9. Sleepless in Seattle
10. Big

I'm still pondering the others. I am thinking about movies I like and looking through the movies we own then comparing them to your picks. That's how I came up with the ones above!

Okay...
8. Chronicles of Narnia
The santa and sleigh threw me. I was trying to come up with a Christmas movie!

5. The Passion of the Christ? I'm not completely sure of this one. I don't know if it had opening credits or not, but all the other elements were in it!

3. Father of the Bride? This was hard...the clues seemed like they could be any movie!

That's all but 4 and 7. I'm still thinking! I'll have to call Brian in to help!

Well done, Natalie! You've figured out the hardest ones - Narnia & Father of the Bride. The other 2 aren't too hard...
The frog is not a key figure in #4.
#7's best clue is the director cameo.
