What we've been doing...

One more week until we leave for the states. This week we've spent the majority of the time packing stuff we want to take to the states, preparing stuff for our give-away/sale, and prepping stuff to go into storage here in Turkey.

Before...

During...

(Notice my poor neglected tree in the background. It looked so much better in the before pictures! I have been so busy lately that I've managed to almost kill all of my plants. I did have a kind soul take pity on the smaller ones and adopt them. She may end up getting that one as well!)

I took those last pictures of our salon before I hauled in all the stuff we were giving away. I should have waited. By the time I got it all in there it looked way worse!

There's still a lot left to do in the next week. Feel sorry for me, please. Thankfully I won't be here to take pictures of the after. I don't know if I could handle seeing an empty room!

i do feel bad for you. we once moved from oregon to florida and couldn't afford a truck, and had only a compact car, so we had to get rid of literally everything. it was awful.

After moving from country to country for many years (every couple years or so) you have my heartfelt sympathy. No matter how much stuff we managed to shed before each relocation it was seemingly never enough. We finally got to where we'd ship in 3 loads 1)need ASAP 2)need pretty soon and 3)stuff for after we got a new place.

It's the one part of that former life I really DO NOT MISS!!! Good luck.(keep thinking chicken fried steak dinner as a 'self-reward' goal)

Oh, I had to laugh (sorry!) at your plea for us to feel sorry for you. Well, you certainly have my sympathy. I know all this would be throwing me into a tizzy. Your home looks so lovely in the 'before' pictures and then the chaos of packing sets in. That chaos is what overwhelms me. You'll get through it and then you can look back at these pictures and be glad it's over! Good luck and have a safe and fun trip back to the States!

I do feel sorry for you. Trust me--for real. I belly-ache if I have to move a box of cookies down to my car. Oh waaahhhhhhh--heavy box of cookies! I'll shut up from now on. Unless I have to haul the cookies to Turkey.

I spent sooo much time in that flat. It makes me really sad that it won't be there when I get back... Sigh... I need to visit you guys some time..

I definitely feel sorry for you, whether that actually helps or not.

memarie lane - oh my...that is awful! i can't even imagine having to leave everything. i know it is just stuff, but so many memories go along with this stuff! wow.

mike s - i know. it seems crazy. we have sent stuff and are paying for 2 extra bags already. i am glad it is almost over!

joe - thanks!

anon - posts have now been written about that!

mamadallama - i look at those before pics and can't even remember when it looked that good! if feels like forever ago! thankfully it is almost over!

over-thinker - i know. cookies are heavy. and hauling cookies to turkey is not a good idea. you can just make your own when you arrive!

derya - i know! it seems crazy to me that we are leaving! so surreal. and would you believe our landlord doesn't know. we have tried calling and telling him for over a month, but he never answers his phone. the kapici and yonetici know though so when the landlord comes looking for the rent for december i guess he will find out!

literaldan - it helps!
