Welcome to Texas

Yes...you are at the Dixon's blog! A friend of mine was bored one day and messed around with my site. She gave me a fresh look for our move back to Texas. I was so excited to see something new here! She did such a fabulous job! Thanks, Pal!

Our time in Turkey has come to an end for the time being. We aren't sure what God has in store for us next, but we are super excited to see. Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes, calls, cards, emails, and hugs. Church on Sunday was bittersweet. So many good friends and memories there.

I also want to say thanks to all those who encouraged me after the comments on the blog post about my cats. With all the stuff I had going on already those comments really just crushed my spirits. That shocked me. I had no idea that I would react the way I did. I know that anonymous and Wondering Woman were just concerned about the cats and didn't mean to add to my stresses, and I do want to reassure them that we are doing everything we can to find a good home for the cats. Thanks for your concern.

Hopefully I will be back here soon with an update from the States!

Natalie, I was busy at the time the cats post came out, but I just went back to read it and catch up. In my opinion, those anonymous comments were mean-spirited. You were doing the best you could under difficult circumstances and I really don't believe you owed anyone either an explanation or an apology. But it is the way of anonymous commenters to drop in and criticize and make assumptions under the cloak of secrecy. I have litle patience for that, as you know.

Welcome back! I look forward to hearing about how the re-patriation goes.

i'm done. i can't deal with the blogs (published for all to see, mind you) that are open for comments but as soon as someone says anything that is taken as "negative" (however, showing concern for animals isn't really negative, it's showing concern)they are attacked by fellow commenters for days and days. natalie, you're not the one turning me from your blog, the commenters who refuse to see another side are. good luck back in the states.

MSP - People don't really put their thoughts out for all to see to be criticized. That's what you don't get. Mama always had a saying when I was growing up that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. And, if you have a problem with someone that needs addressing, you address them in private. Natalie has her email address published - now wouldn't that have been a nicer, more humane way to do that?

Would have saved the commenters from being protected by well-intended friends.

Also, any but the most cursory reading of this particular blog will show you that while she may have left out her entire plan - you can probably surmise she's going to do the right thing.

Yay! I was so surprised to see that you had not only posted, but there was a whole new look!

Very exciting days ahead for you and your family and I wish you all the best.

I liked Hahn's comments. Silly people don't know how to ask a question. They just jump in and scream.

citizen of the world - i think one of the hardest things was that i was trying to make sure my family was ok. i tried to take care of the cats, but they were definitely not top priority. i would never have just trashed them though.

friyet - thanks! i was needing a fresh look for sure!

#1 - i agree. i love it! thanks for thinking about me!

brittany - thanks! i am trying to update, but no internet is making that difficult!

msp - please don't go away mad. i did understand the heart behind the comment. i also know that people who care about me are going to defend me...especially since they knew i wasn't doing very well emotionally at the time of your comment. i think they were just concerned for me...making sure i was doing ok. hope you can understand that.

hahn - thanks for your support. as always.
