Out

I am out of town for the week and don't know if I will blog while I am here. I thought I might, but unless I have something that I just can't wait to say I probably won't. Just wanted you to know that I haven't given up on the blogging thing. Since I know you are sitting on the edges of your seats waiting with bated breath (Thanks to mamadallama for pointing out my misspelling of bated! I have had little sleep and little time to think so I appreciate someone else doing it for me!) to read what I have to say. Nothing. I pretty much have nothing to say right now. Wait...I guess I can tell you where I am. I am at a conference of foreigners. Basically a whole bunch of us who live and work in the area get together to compare notes and talk about living outside of our own cultures. It is a fun time to just relax with a whole bunch of others just like us. So we are here until Friday. That's it.

OH...I must tell you this. One of our friends took one of his kids to the restroom in the lobby of the hotel. While in the restroom he encountered some youth. Boys. This is the conversation he was privileged to hear.

Youth Boy 1 - I think I am pretty much the hottest guy here.
Youth Boy 2 - I know. But there is that other guy.
Youth Boy 1 - Yeah, true.

So confident...those kids.

Umm... How old were these "boys?"

I was hoping you would explain the tweet, describing this encounter.I kept wondering why you were in the bathroom with the boys, instead of Brian.... listening to the conversations....

Whew!

I will wait here with baited breath. I am trying to decide what to use as bait. I'll bet those kids in the restroom would have some good ideas! Have fun at the conference!

Enjoy your time away to recharge. Just be careful not to take too much time, or you may fall out of the habit.

That conversation is so funny.

Have fun on your trip!

That's funny. I don't think I had anywhere near that kind of confidence as a kid.

johnson journal - i know. i'm not sure who the kids were. robert c overheard them, but he didn't know who they belonged to.

charlie girl - well they were youth. maybe 13 or so. and no i didn't go into the men's restroom. no way!

mamadallama - i'm glad you caught that whole baited/bated thing. i seriously wrote and didn't proofread at all. usually i at least read over it once!

brittany - most of the time it is. that restroom bit was the highlight of my week. the rest of it contained large amounts of vomit and poop. so fun.

literaldan - i know. life is only going to get busier. at least the kids will be in school for the busy part...packing up a house full of the last 6 years of our lives. i must be crazy!

sparkliesunshine - i know! i couldn't believe they would say it where someone could overhear them!

citizen of the world - i know i didn't. not even close!

I seriously hope that the Dixon family is on the mend. I'm not aware if your Turkish plumbing can handle any surprises :)

ha! I had to go back and read what you wrote re: bated vs baited. No worries. I understood what you meant and I did not mean to come off as one of those people who can't tolerate a spelling error or typo when conversing which is exactly what a blog is. It's just like everyday speech. Sometimes it's not always correct but it's still ok because it's a conversation! That's ok on blogs, too. We're not writing a thesis here; we're communicating, which is much more important! (I have no idea if my punctuation or anything else is correct here and it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.) Please keep writing and don't worry about that stuff.
