Much better.

I want cake. I want strawberry pie. And today I am in a good mood. I woke up in a good mood. It has been a good day. I'm glad. I know a huge part of that is that my house-helper came. I know...I am spoiled, but I have a house-helper. We have used her on and off for about 6 years. When we first arrived in Turkey she came three days a week to clean our house and watch the kids while I had language. She was a lifesaver. She doesn't speak any English which was good for all of us and our language abilities. After my kids started school we dropped her down to one day a week. That day she would just clean our house for us. We stopped using her for the 6 months leading up to our 7 months in America, but when we returned to Turkey we had her come back. For the past three weeks though she hasn't come. I wasn't sure what the problem was. And because of my passive nature I never called to check on her. I just assumed she had a good reason for not coming. Last night she called and told me about how her mother-in-law had broken her foot so she needed to be there to take care of her. She said that she would be able to come today if we still wanted her to. I think she was worried that we would just tell her not to come since she hadn't been here in so long. I was dying to have the house cleaned so today she came. Today my house is clean. And I didn't have to do a thing to help. During the time she didn't come we cleaned up...of course. But it has been so hot. And when it is hot cleaning is the last thing I felt like doing. Ahhhh...my mood is considerably better. Nice clean house. Ahhhhh...

Oh...there are no strawberries so I can't make strawberry pie. I guess I could heat up my kitchen and make cake. Nah...I'll just suffer. And since my house is clean I don't mind so much!

You and me both, lady-- whenever it is hot (or cold... or mild...), cleaning is the last thing I feel like doing.

Glad you're feeling better. A clean house always helps. Especially when someone else does it.

I hired my SIL a couple years ago to clean my house. I have a home business and it was stressing me out to have to clean the house on top of working full time. Next to installing central AC, it is the best thing I ever did : ) She needed the money and I needed the house cleaned, so we are all happy now.

I just ran across you blog a couple days ago....when I have time, I'll have to read some old posts.... Have a good weekend!

* It's the last day to enter my CONTEST! Do you need a piggy bank??? *

You just made me fantasiize about having the base boards and doors cleaned by anyone but me. There weren't any dirty spots or finger prints anywhere! It was a nice fantasy.

Here's a peace out from Antalya. I had much fun in your house (and kitchen). Thanks for all the good times (and food).

Ah! So you've been ill AND it's HOT! No wonder you've been having a tough time. I didn't think about it before, about you not having a.c. I would be MISERABLE! Now, you just need to go out somewhere and have one of those fabulous desserts that you've profiled here. Go read P-Dub's blog today, too. That should make you feel even better.

Well, I'm glad you didn't post too much while I was in the black hole of no internet during the move. It only took me 10 minutes instead of an hour to get caught up on everything I'd missed! And I'm happy because my kitchen is now a functional kitchen and doesn't look like Ikea exploded in there. Now if I can just get the rest of the house to look that good....

Sorry you've been sick and hot. I'm wondering what you're hearing there in Turkey about what's going on Georgia? Do those kind of events affect people there - visibly or do they talk about it? Just wondering.

I'm glad you feel better. But also you're vacation look glorious. Sometimes I get down after vacation. That and a messy house... well that's enough.

I hope you are starting to feel better but sorry about The Hot. I hate The Hot, too.

I also hate cleaning and avoid it as much as I possibly can, instead eating chocolate. Or cake. Preferably chocolate cake...not made by me because that would be work.

My cleaners's name is Hubby. Perhaps he should think about moving to Turkey and getting a cleaner instead of having to clean himself! :)

I hear ya about hot! When it is hot here, I just don't like to do much at all-and I am veeerrry cranky. And don't even think about turning on that oven and making your kitchen 15 degrees hotter! Salads and sandwiches!

A clean house is the best. We have had a housekeeper come in the past while we lived in the US and UK. I LOVED those days.

Hang in there!

Sometimes I would rather paint my walls then wipe then down to clean them LOL.

But that's just me

literaldan - i know. and i hate that no matter how many times i clean it is just going to get dirty again. sigh.

lynn - i know! i really should get rid of my househelper since she is pretty unreliable on actually showing up, but i always love the clean house when she is done. and i figure i don't pay her if she doesn't show up. my problem is i think i know when she is coming so i don't clean and then after days of being wrong my house is a disaster. that was where we were that day!

your piggy banks are amazing! so cute!

pinki - wow...that is scary. i never fantasize about clean baseboards. never ever!

sparkliesunshine - i know...i love cake with a passion. and clean houses too!

alexander - well. hm. what can i say? this almost made me want to cry. we are already missing you like crazy! hopefully we will see you on that side of the water in the not too distant future!

mamadallama - i know...heat with no a/c is miserable. we do have a unit in our living room, but i can't camp out there all the time. thanks for the well wishes!

brittany - a househelper totally works! well...when they show up.

sharon - i know. it has been crazy around here! my house looks like something exploded and i didn't just move. this is what happens when you have too much stuff for the amount of space you live in. i am looking forward to cleaning out in the next couple of months!

arizona albino - we usually watch cnn international or read our news online. i don't have any idea what the turks are saying about it. i guess i should get out and ask. my boys just got back from a trip out east where they saw the georgian border. they almost crossed it just to say they had been there. now that georgia is in the news brian is really disappointed that he can't tell everyone he went to georgia a few days before the conflict started.

kiki - unfortunately or fortunately...however you want to look at it...i didn't go on the vacation with my camera. brian took the boys on that trip and the girls stayed home. i missed seeing some beautiful sights, but i am glad i wasn't away from my house for 9 days. i am too much of a homebody to have enjoyed all those hotels.

~m - yeah...i am feeling better. i made chocolate pudding cake which helped. seriously. and i wish my husband liked to clean. that would be helpful! i don't mind it so much...just not in the hot. then i can't stand it because i am so miserable!

andrea - yeah...i totally get my crank on. between the heat and the dirty house i can be quite ugly. i hate when i am ugly!

#2 - i know. i feel the same way. and with all the coal smoke here my walls are disgusting! i end up smearing the blackness around. instead of a nice shade of grayish yellow i now have yellow walls with dirty streaks where i tried to clean them. i should have left well enough alone!
