25 years younger...

Ok. I read this earlier today, and I am still laughing so I thought I would share it. Totally made me laugh!

Now on to other news...

When I was in high school I was on our drill team. I've heard of a lot of places where the drill team was called the all kinds of names that weren't exactly nice, but our drill team was pretty tame. I loved it. I loved dancing. I still do.

Today Erica was telling me that she emailed one of the counselors at the school she will be attending when we move back to the states. I was a little surprised that she reached out like that. The counselor asked her all kinds of good questions and made Erica excited about the opportunities she would have at the new school. This particular counselor had even lived in Turkey for one summer when she was in 4th grade. So Erica mentioned that she might be interested in the drill team when she gets back. She was told that there were several dance classes that she could take to help prepare her. She would start with Dance 1. Those kids weren't allowed to try out for drill team. The next year she could take Dance 2. They were allowed to try out, but very few made it. The following year was Dance 3 and then Dance 4. I was excited about this opportunity. In my high school we had a Dance 1 class. If you didn't make the drill team that was the end of your dancing days. I love that she can take dance all the way through high school even if she doesn't make the team. It is good exercise and so much fun!

After talking about it we watched some drill team performances on youtube. She loved it. So did I . Do you think I could pass for a 9th grader and take Dance 1 with her? I need to look 25 years younger. Hm....

If you look 25 years younger, you will look like a 4 year old...

Just saying.... being 29 does not leave you that much room to wiggle...

{grin}

Heh. I am so glad you liked it, sweets!

I.cannot.dance.

Like, even if my life depended on it.

As in AT ALL.

(I think you get the point, here.)

Good for Erica!

And I KNEW there was something I liked about you...I was in marching band...played the flute. If marching band is not a sport, I don't know what is. Sometimes I think you get more discipline in marching band than you do on a team...and you certianly get exercise :D

When I was in high school, drill team was a big deal-but they were snobbish. I hope that things like that will change. I want my girls to be involved in things like that-without all of the high school politics. *sigh* Is that possible?

I think they should let you take Dance 1 as a non-credit class - I'm sure you could show them some new moves!! Good luck to Erica!

Thanks for stopping by my site. I hope you will visit again soon.

If you can't figure out a way to shave off 25 years, I can always teach you to line dance... :)

memarie lane - yep...in november. i am looking forward to it!

loralee - i did. cracked me up everytime i thought about it i laughed. i love to go dancing with people who can't dance. especially if they will dance. not because they are funny to watch, but because they seem to have the most fun!

~m - i know. way to step out! i watched many a band practice and was always amazed at how precise things were. some of them were crazy amazing!

andrea - there were some girls on my drill team who were snobbish for sure. i think there will always be some. but your girls will probably steer clear of those types.

big hair envy - that would be awesome! take the class as a 39 year old. those girls would look at me like i was ancient i'm sure!

brian - i need to learn how to line dance! for some reason i have never learned this! why is that!?!

I'd be more than happy to dress you up in a Catholic school girl outfit and see where it goes from there, dear. The States look forward to your return. Cheers!

Do I remember that you'll be back in November? I'm curious where you'll live? (Email me if you don't want to post it...) Are the kids excited? They probably don't remember much of the states; they were so young when you left.

Good for Erica for taking the leap to contact someone at her new school!

erin - in november we will be in houston. we might be making a trip to waco though before the first of the year. brian's brother lives there, and his parents just bought a townhouse there as well.
